AK 80s Jet lathe

Picked up an 80s Jet 13x40 lathe at auction.
Lathes are fairly hard to find here, the couple I've seen either have been expensive, too small or came on the Mayflower old (and a huge project)


I need to get a chuck and toolholder for it and have little idea where to start.

From what I understand I have to use a backplate and bolt the chuck to it? Which also means no reverse rotation work I guess?

Was looking on Amazon and a 10" chuck.is $170ish. Don't plan to be splitting tenths with this thing, they hood enough or door stoppers?

So to answer the question, yeah the Chinese garbage is more than find for repairing and modifying stuff like most people here do.

Ebay should have parts for that lathe.
