I’m wiring a mini split AC unit. The unit comes with about 12’ of 18/4 wire to go between the indoor and out door unit. I need another ten feet or so because of my installation. I went to Lowe’s and they have 18/4 sprinkler wire. The guy there said I can’t use that and he didn’t have what I needed. Is this true?

Is there a end cut off the 12ft piece you have now? Or is it pre terminated into a connector?
Can you post a pic?

No plugs, but it has color coded ring terminals on both ends.

I did some research and the sprinkler wire is 150 volts. I found the “SOOW” wire that has 600 volt ratting like my piece. I ordered it on line.

Should be TC-ER cable, but inspector might let SOOW slide.

They also make a mini split wire that is a weatherproof MC type cable, many inspectors are requiring that now.
