What's new

Bucket - the CJ8 light mod - another build.

IIRC the nv4500 came with 29 spline output, so should be able to get an input for the 300.
Yeah, I linked the JB Conversions one a while back, waiting to hear if it will work.

The Advanced Adapters one is back ordered.

Cool build. This is quite close to what I currently have in the back of my mind to turn my current Jeep into.

Thanks. Next I'll be working on a in CJ tank fuel pump. I've used the JB Conversions one before, not sure it's worth the dough:

Also, the VIN for my 6L80E donor, to have my PCM programmed to match the year and expected functions, as a baseline to start tuning.

Got some time today, finished the front axle fab and put a fuel pump into the CJ7 tank.

Bought Holley Terminator X to control the LS1 with a 6L80E. Interesting, in that they can cross Gen 3 GM engines with Gen 4 GM TEHCM's which are in the transmission's valve body.

Still waiting for the chassis to get out of paint prison.

Also, pulling apart a stock Dana 300, for the 32 spline input, new twin stick shifter rails, all new bearings, seals and a JB Conversions 4:1.

4:1 with the 6L80e 4.027:1 first gear?

What diff ratio?

For my commando (LV3/6L80e), I took 4:1 gears out of my d300 and opted for factory 2.62 gears because the 4:1 1st gear and 4.88 diff gears seemed right for crawling. Of course it's holding jackstands to the floor, so I don't know if I'll wish I had more than 51.5:1 (would be 78:1)

Right now, 4.10's and probably a 37" tire, since I went with 2" SOA springs.

Will probably end up with 4.88's.

Thing is, this is an east coast rig. Always want more gear here.

Want to sell your 4:1s? i have 5 D300's here to build.

East coast seems like you'd want more wheel speed? Maybe if I ever finish mine and you finish this, we can drive em next to each other and see :lmao:

They look like someone poured salt water in the case filled it half way, then let it sit for a year. The tooth face for 1/2 the gear is corroded more than I'd want to sell to anyone.

My buggy runs 4:1 d300 gears, so I've tossed em in the corner as emergency spares.

With all 6 speeds of the trans available, I want more selection. Did I mention I have a TCI paddle shifter for this?

Plus I have them, so why not? If it doesn't work, I have other t-cases.

So how's this for sad? 06h3 talked me into building an Alpha 4L60E, with the funky oil pan and valve body to clear a drive shaft from the Dana 300... and then swapped in a 6L80E, talking me into doing that. :flipoff2:

This 4L60E is built to handle 500hp/TQ with all billet shit... and I am not using it.

I did the AA adapter that puts the VSS onto the tail housing and a 27 spline input on the trans, with a clocking ring.
