So I’ve been after this project for several years from my coworker. He wasn’t ready to sell so probably worked out with everything happening with life. I stayed in touch and every 6 months or so I’d ask if he was ready to sell. One day he reached out and said he was. Deal was made. The day I showed up to pick her up, it needed one tire as the sidewall was blown on it. I was getting to drive off and he mentioned the brakes needed some work (had been sitting for 2 years due to issues with the brakes.). I made it a mile down the road and realized I needed to turn back and reassess the situation as I almost crashed 3 times. She had no brakes at all. I went back a few weeks later with my dad, swapped out the master cylinder and all was good. Drove her home through town. Started tinkering with her at home trying to chase down a fuel issue and did a bunch of basic maintenance. Seller included a set of wheels, found some Boggers for her, and swapped them over. It’s a slow going process but I’m thoroughly enjoying cruising her. I headed out to a car show this past weekend just to check other cars out.
Plan going forward:
Take the top off and run a bikini top for now
Replace the ujoints on the rear driveshaft
Change out gear oil in diffs
continue chasing down my fuel issue
Replace body mounts
Front inner fenders
Redo the suspension with something not covered in rusf
Paint the frame
Cruise
She will be a basic build. 383/ TH350/ 205 stock axles 35” Boggers clean interior. Added SB dog fish caps that i half ass restored and a fire extinguisher.
Overall the best part has been it’s turned into a bit of a project for my dad and I to wrench on as his health continues to decline. I’m enjoying my time with him.
May come back for updates or may not.
