Voltage Sensing 12v Switch?

I also have no idea how wrapping around a wire like that would work for any kind of DC current. As soon as the current stabilizes the coil voltage goes to zero.

reed switch is in the coil not a second wire
only needs a steady magnetic field from the current flow
but the current flow of an LED high beam doesn't seem like it'd be enough magnetism

O I see now.
Kind of like making a mechanical relay.
